Always maintain a
space cushion between you and other vehicles on the road. This will allow
you a safe exit for evasive maneuvering to avoid an emergency. Avoid
driving along side of cars and especially trucks on a multi-lane street.
You could be in another driver's blind spot which is on either side and
slightly to the rear. Either speed up or drop back and put your vehicle
where other drivers can see you.
You should have at
least 2 seconds of distance at any speed between cars. Rear end collisions
are more common than any other kind. They are due to driversfollowing
each other too closely. If the car ahead stops, the car following cannot
stop in time.
