Turn off all electrical switches and the cab heater. Heat producing devices such as operating lights, lit cigarettes, and open flames must be extinguished or kept at a safe distance.

Be sure to keep the fuel nozzle in contact with the fillerneck to prevent static electricity sparks. Keep fuel from spilling onto hot surfaces. A dry chemical or carbon dioxide fire extinguisher must be in the cab or immediate area of the crane at all times and you should be familiar with its use.
