How to read and understand a lift capacity chart.

Before making a lift, compare the weight being lifted on this chart with the column on the chart covering the size of rope being used. Check the chart for the number of parts of line required to make the lift. When making a lift with more parts of line required than is needed, remember to add weight, approximately one pound for each one foot of extra rope, to the actual load weight. The extra parts of line act as additional load weight. The capacities shown are based on wire rope strength alone. Exceeding the capacities listed for wire rope strength may result in rope breakage.
