| Some of the toughest challenges facing American industry today involve
the urgent need for hazardous materials safety and health training. OSHA's 29 CFR
1910.1200 Hazard Communication Standard has established comprehensive guidelines to
protect all employees who work with chemical materials. The Standard requires that workers who are routinely exposed to a chemical must
be informed of the hazards associated with the material, the precautions for safe use of
the material, and the procedures to be followed in the event of an emergency. The OSHA
legislation now covers as many as 32 million workers at more than 3.5 million worksites
nationwide. Covers material safety data sheets, labels, lists, chemical hazards, dangers of exposure, and strategies for recognizing and controlling chemical hazards. Developed with the participation of General Motors and the United Auto Workers. Adopted by the Federal Government to train over 2 million Federal employees.
