The
Lift Truck Operator Training Program
|
| Every
day, more than a million lift trucks are at work across America. They move
immense quantities of goods and equipment easily and efficiently. Yet the
features that enable lift trucks to carry heavy loads and maneuver in tight
spaces can put their operators -- and others -- in real danger.
Lift trucks are not
conventional vehicles. For their safe and effective use, operators need
to know how to properly handle a vehicle with rear-wheel steering, three-point
suspension, and a massive counterweight.
|
The
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has made lift truck
operator training a compliance requirement in its Powered Industrial
Trucks Standard (29 CFR 1910.178).
The Lift Truck
Operator Training Program, a comprehensive program developed to meet
the training requirement of the OSHA Standard. The program is designed
to reduce lift truck accidents and promote safe work practices. The information
in this course can help the professional lift truck operator prevent damage
to products and prolong the life of his or her lift truck.
