All of OSHA''s recent regulations not only call for employees to receive initial training, but require that employees knowledge be "refreshed"... through retraining... on at least an annual basis. Since the detailed information that is required by the regulations has normally been given to employees during their initial training, retraining sessions can usually focus on things like reminding employees that they should be paying attention to the regulation in question... and heightening their "awareness" about how the regulation affects their jobs.
OSHA Lead Standards in Construction Environments addresses the major areas of employee training required by the regulations. Because of the widespread historical use of lead-based paints, as well as other materials containing lead, these products are useful to a number of different groups including building/construction companies, manufacturers, recyclers and many others.
Topics covered include: • Contents of the standards • "Measurement" concepts • How lead can affect the body • Symptoms of lead exposure • Permissible exposure limits and action levels • Workplace exposure assessment and air monitoring • The written compliance program selection • Use of respirators and other PPE • Safe work practices • The medical surveillance program
The DVD versions of the programs are divided into 2-3 minute "chapters", so the programs can be shown in their entirety in a single session, or individual chapters can be used as the basis for a number of 10-15 minute "Tailgate Meetings" or "Toolbox Talks."
